Howard E. "Hot" Hunsinger of Winfield, Ala., formerly of Winona, 89, passed away at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 2, 2020.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6, at the Winona Garden of Memory in Winona. The services included Masonic rites and a family eulogy.
Mr. HunsingerHe was born in Winfield, Alabama, on June 28, 1931. He was the son of the late Howard and Ivy Greenlee Hunsinger. He was a graduate of Winona High School and completed many college courses. He was employed for many years with the Birmingham News and worked for McLean
Trucking Company until his retirement.
Mr. Hunsinger served in two branches of the Armed Forces, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force, he served a tour of duty in Germany. His passions included art and SEC football, especially Alabama...Roll Tide. He was also a Master Mason of Metro East King Solomon Lodge No. 932 of the Grand Lodge of Irondale, Alabama.
Mr. Hunsinger was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ivy Hunsinger; his brother, Newell B. Hunsinger (Addie); and his sister, Ann Louise Hunsinger. He is survived by his nephew, Ronald N. Hunsinger (Lillian) of Birmingham, AL; niece, Debbie Vaughn (Joe) of Salisbury, NC; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; and numerous great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces.
