Mr. Burton C. "Burt" Hodges Sr., of French Camp passed away at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Mississippi, on Wednesday, September 2, 2020. He was born in Fenton, Michigan, on March 4, 1934, to Carol A. and Elizabeth M.Shelby Hodges, and was 86 years old.
Mr. Hodges was the owner of Burt's Cattle Ranch and Burt's Truck and Trailer Equipment Company. He was a lifelong member of the Future Farmers of America, and received the Michigan Star State Farmer Award in 1952. He was a member of Poplar Creek Church in Poplar Creek. Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Doris Jones Hodges; his daughter, Donna Hodges; and his brother, Don Hodges.
Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife, Linda Nixon Hodges of French Camp; his sons, Craig Hodges (Jennifer) of Hattiesburg, Burt Hodges Jr., of Marion, Arkansas, and Stephen Nixon of Winona; sister, Helen Reed of Flint, Michigan; brother, Ben Hodges of West Branch, Michigan; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, at Oliver Funeral Home. The family held a private funeral service at The Little Log Chapel in the Woods on Burt's Cattle Ranch near French Camp.
