Alita DeBerry

Mrs. Alita Whisnant DeBerry, 86, of Nesbit passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Southaven.

The memorial service, will be held Sept. 1, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 2575 US Hwy 51 in Nesbit.

Mrs. DeBerry worked as a newspaper columnist for 27 years at various local papers including the Commercial Appeal, Winona Times, Atlanta Constitution, and the Carthaginian.

 Mrs. DeBerry leaves behind two daughters, Lisa DeBerry Wilson of Memphis and Stephanie DeBerry of Nesbit; one sister, Katie Carrigan of Alta Vista, Va.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, H.R. DeBerry; her parents, George Houston and Mildred Doster Whisnant; one brother, Dan Whisnant; and two sisters, Dorothy Clark and Linda Whisnant.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses
