The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department captured a wanted man last week following a traffic stop.
According to Sheriff Clint Walker, Carroll County deputies arrested Douglas Wayne Evans, 40, of Oklahoma during a July 2, 2020, traffic stop on Highway 35 in North Carrollton. Evans was arrested after it was learned that he had an outstanding warrant in Oklahoma for aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and possession of a controlled substance. He will be extradited back to Oklahoma.
Also arrested during the stop was Joe L. Griffin, 61, of Greenville. He was charged with possession of approximately five ounces of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Walker said when deputies approached the vehicle, Griffin was “attempting to load a magazine of a firearm.”
“Deputies ordered him to stop, and he eventually complied,” Walker said.
Walker said when the car was searched deputies discovered two firearms and a bulletproof vest.
Both were transported to the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden.
