Edd Lee Collins, Jr. is seeking the position of District 1 Justice Court Judge for Montgomery County. He qualified as an independent and will be on the November 5 ballot.
“If I am elected, I am committed to serve the citizens of Montgomery County as a full time justice court judge,” Collins said. “I will follow the law, always remain unbiased in the business of the court, and be respectful to everyone who comes before the court.”
A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Collins is married to the former Barbara Parker from Duck Hill. The couple has two daughters and five grandchildren. He is currently in his 10th year as maintenance supervisor for Montgomery County, and he spent an additional 30-plus years working in the business sector.
Collins is also active in the local community. He is a member of Eskridge Baptist Church, where he serves as deacon. He is also a member of the Carroll-Montgomery Baptist Association where he serves as clerk of the Executive Committee and joint Executive Committee, a member of the Big Black Masonic Lodge #608, and a member of the Winona Masonic Lodge #48. He is also a member of the Winona Shrine Club and Wahabi Shrine Club of Jackson.
Collins also donates his time regularly to help raise funds for local citizens by cooking at various benefits. He said he enjoys giving back to his community and being a part of helping his friends and neighbors in need.
If elected, Collins said he will take that same approach as justice court judge.
“I will give my best in serving the citizens of Montgomery County,” Collins said.
Collins is busy connecting with as many residents as possible before November’s election, and he has enjoyed visiting those he has known most of his life and making new friends along the way.
“I hope you will consider me as you go to the polls on November 5,” Collins said. “Thank you for your support and consideration as I earn your vote for Montgomery County District 1 Justice Court Judge.”
