Marie Ellis Fancher, 89, of Greenwood, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 at Indywood Glen Personal Care. Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until service begun at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Williams & Lord Funeral Home and Rev. Lanny Haley and Rev. Charlie Jones officiated. Burial followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1928 to James Henry Weeks and Cammie Blackwell Weeks of Boyle. Marie was the owner of Slenderizers Exercise Salon. She retired from sales at Naaman and Ola and also worked at Conmar Zipp Co. for several years.
Marie was a charter member of Christ Baptist Church and a life member of Ladies Auxiliary Post 3235. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 29. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a true Southern Christian Lady who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John F. (Jeff) Ellis, and her late husband, John M. (J.M.) Fancher; daughter, Carolyn Ellis; son, Jerry Ellis; three stepsons, Jimmie Ellis, Billy Ellis, and Jeff Ellis, Jr; grandson, John Ellis; brothers, James Hugh Weeks, Stanley Weeks, Barney Weeks, Walter Weeks, and Earl Weeks; and sisters, Mary Lee Pittman, Myrtle Ammons, Nannie Lovern, and Lorene McNeil.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Ellis of Carrollton; stepson, James Ellis (Martha) of Alexandria, La.; stepdaughter, Louise Thornburg of Greenwood,; daughter in laws, Vicki Ellis of Grenada , Ruth Ellis of Hammond, La., and Corrine Ellis of Dothan, Ala.; granddaughters, Angie Cather (Danny) of Inverness, Lindsey Mitchell of Grenada, Jennifer Starnes (Trey) of St. Charles, Mo., Tonia Lance (Bubba) of Grenada,; and grandsons, Jeremy Ellis of Grenada, and Lance Ellis of Grenada. She is also survived by several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Pall Bearers will be Johnny Ray Brasel, Lance Ellis, Brandon Fulgham, Emerson Starnes, Quay Starnes, and Taylor Upchurch. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Ellis, Jeremy Ellis, Larry Ellis, Robert Ellis,
J.C. Pittman, and Danny Tharp.
