Mrs. Zula Blanche Crane DuBard, 103, of the Jefferson Community of Carroll County, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at her residence. She was born May 8, 1921, in Clarksdale to Ernest Cline and Zula Blanche Adams Crane. Blanche graduated from Draughn’s Business College in 1941 just in time for WWII. She went to work for the US Government at Camp McCain near Grenada for the duration of the war. In 1944, she married Melvin Hart DuBard, Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy. As a Navy wife, she lived a challenging life raising children while Melvin was often deployed for months at a time. She was a wonderful storyteller having lots of interesting tales of survival while knowing no one in various huge cities around the country. They were happily married for 62 years and raised four sons. She was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church and a member of the Carroll County Homemakers Club. Blanche was an inspiration to everyone she met, showing incredible courage, faith and a kind and loving spirit as she lived into an advanced age. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services to celebrate her remarkable life were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Tanner officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include sons, Ron DuBard(Betty) of Greenwood, Bob DuBard(Lorraine) of Grenada and David DuBard(Diana) of Oxford; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Hart DuBard and a son, Donald Cline DuBard.
Colt Beaty, Ken DuBard, Tate DuBard, Trevor DuBard, Trey DuBard and Tyler DuBard honored Mrs. DuBard by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
