A Grenada County woman is in serious condition following a one-car accident Sunday afternoon near Kilmichael.
According to Sgt. Ronald Shive with the Public Affairs Division of the Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop D, the Montgomery County Emergency Management Center received a call at 5:58 p.m. Sunday evening reporting a single vehicle accident in the westbound lane of Highway 82 in Montgomery County between Kilmichael and Stewart. Shrive said that heavy rain caused the driver, Jessie Strider, 48, of Winona to lose control of the Ford Explorer. The vehicle left the roadway and flipped.
Two passengers, Kelley Strider, 38, of Eupora and Mary Louise “Jody” Strider, 71, were injured and transported to North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora with injuries.
According to a Grenada Star report, Jody Strider, wife of Grenada County Sheriff Alton Strider, suffered from broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a broken arm, and fractures in her neck and back. The report stated that she was currently in serious condition at the Northeast Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Tupelo.
