The Winona Police Department has been conducting an extensive investigation for the past several months. On August 14, 2024, at approximately 5:45 a.m., Winona Police Officers were joined by Montgomery County Sheriff Department and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents to execute a search warrant at 814 Campbell Street in Winona.
During the search, officers recovered felony amounts of cocaine and marijuana along with a large sum of cash. The homeowner, Akil Jones 43 of Winona was taken into custody and booked into the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden. He is currently awaiting an initial appearance at this time.
Chief Daniels expressed his sincere appreciation to his officers and to the Montgomery County Sheriff Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. As this is an ongoing investigation more arrests are expected.
