The Winona High School girls fast-pitch softball team picked up one win in last Saturday's Spring Break Tournament.
The Lady Tigers (4-8 overall) beat Riverside 6-5 in their first game of the tournament. Olivia Swindle had an RBI double, and Emma Vincent and Alisha Taylor had an RBI single each. Makinley Russell and Emily Casiday had a single apiece, and Dorothy Martin Derrick, Mary Beth Brannon, Keagan Hall and Casiday scored a run each.
The Lady Tigers dropped a close 4-3 decision to Leake Central in their second game. Brannon had two singles and scored a run, and Hall had a single and drove in two runs. Derrick had an RBI, and Swindle and Russell scored a run each.
In a game from last Friday, Winona fell 15-12 to visiting Water Valley. Derrick had a single, double and triple and drove in six runs. Swindle had a sinfle and two doubles, scored three times and drove in two runs. Hailey Burton had a double and two RBIs, and Casiday, Brannon and Vincent had a single each.
Winona, which played at Bruce Monday, entertains J.Z. George March 20 and Ruleville on March 21.

The Winona netters dropped both of the matches they played last week.
Last Monday, Winona fell 6-1 to Kosciusko with the lone win coming in mixed doubles, a 6-1, 6-2 victory from Jemarius Sanders and Molly Tompkins.
In boys singles, Kirven McCrory lost his match 1-6, 0-6, and in girls singles, Lana Branch fell 0-6, 0-6. In No. 1 boys doubles, Jordan Leech and Gunner Wilkes lost 4-6, 4-6. In No. 2 boys doubles, Eric Boone and Lucas Harper fell 0-6, 0-6. In No. 1 girls doubles, Emma Marshall and Janey Beth McRae lost 1-6, 1-6, and in No. 2 girls doubles, Marlee Wilkes and Lillian Jones lost 1-6, 0-6.
Last Tuesday, Winona was swept by Grenada High School 7-0. Lucas Harper lost in boys singles, 0-6, 0-6. In girls singles, Branch fell 1-6, 2-6. In No. 1 boys doubles, Leech and Wilkes lost 1-6, 2-6, and in No. 2 boys doubles, Boone and Sanders dropped their match 1-6, 0-6.
In No. 1 girls doubles, Marshall and McRae lost 1-6, 0-6. In No. 2 girls doubles, Wilkes and Jones lost 0-6, 1-6. In mixed doubles, McCrory and Tompkins fell 1-6, 2-6.
Winona plays Monday at home against French Camp and Tuesday at home against Senatobia.

The Jaguars dropped a pair of Region 2-2A games at Bruce High School last Tuesday, falling 23-0 and 16-0. The Jags failed to get a hit in either game.
Keiyhaun Wilks (0-1) took the loss in the first game, and Dylan Nobles (1-3) was tagged with the loss in the second game.
J.Z. George (1-4, 0-2) is slated to visit Calhoun City Tuesday.
