A Grenada man and a Greenwood man are in jail on multiple felonies.
Carroll County deputies arrested Jaquavious Swims, 21, of Greenwood, and Ladell Swims Jr., 25, of Grenada after the Carroll County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) received a call of two men driving around North Carrollton in a threatening manner on July 2, according to a statement released by Sheriff Clint Walker.
“Carroll County EOC received a call from a concerned citizen reporting a white Ford Mustang that was being driven around North Carrollton occupied by two black males. It was also reported that one of the males was holding a rifle out of the window in a threatening manner,” the release stated. “Carroll County deputies were dispatched immediately. They soon located a car with occupants matching the description given.”
Deputies saw the barrel of a rifle on the backseat in plain sight along with a magazine in the vehicle, where Ladell Swims Jr. was the driver and Jaquavious Swims was the passenger, according to the release.
“Aside from the rifle, deputies discovered a stolen firearm under the front driver’s seat that had been reported stolen very recently,” the release stated. “The passenger had in his possession cocaine, Xanax bars, marijuana and a large sum of cash.”
Deputies booked both men into the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility where they await their initial appearances on multiple charges.
“I want to thank the concerned citizen who alerted us to this dangerous situation. With the help of our citizens, we are working to get drugs and guns out of our county for good,” Walker said. “I appreciate that person’s bravery in helping us get these dangerous men off of our streets and out of our neighborhoods.”
