The Winona High School girls and boys basketball teams both went 1-1 in games played last week.
The Lady Tigers beat Coffeeville High School 50-28 last Tuesday night in Winona to improve to 4-7 overall. The Lady Tigers led 12-4 after the first frame, 25-10 at the half and 31-19 after the third quarter.
Mikalah Coker led Winona with 22 points, and Ariella Jones tacked on 16. Madison Keys and Tamaya Nash had four points each.
The Tigers lost 63-48 to Coffeeville to slip to 3-8 overall. The Pirates held leads of 17-2 after one, 35-16 at the half and 49-31 after the third period.
Kentrell Crawford had 13 points for Winona, and Jalon Oliver notched nine. Ayden Johnson tacked on eight points, and Ariez Peeples and Jamarcus Robinson had seven points each.
Winona traveled to Ethel High School last Monday night as the Tigers prevailed 47-26 behind 11 points each from Kentrell and Darrion Crawford. Peeples had eight, and DJ Rias chipped in seven. Robinson finished with six points.
The Tigers led 12-11 after one, 19-18 at the half and 32-26 after the third period.
In the girls game, Ethel came out on top 42-23 as the Lady Tigers led 15-4 after the first, 25-8 at the half and 33-18 after the third.
Coker led Winona with eight points, and Jones had six. Bianca Ward had four points.
Winona, which played Leflore County Monday and hosted Grenada High School Tuesday, entertains Eupora High School Friday and plays in the Desoto Central Christmas Classic Saturday in Southaven.
