The Winona High School tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at Cleveland Central High School on Feb. 18.
The Tigers got wins in No. 2 girls doubles and mixed doubles. The duo of Joceline Rodriguez and Sofia Guzman defeated Jamyah Burnside and Kailyn McLemore 8-4 in a pro-set match. In the mixed doubles match, also a pro set, Leo Guzman and Ariella Jones beat Cleveland’s Kate Skinner and Ohm Patel 8-6.
In boys singles, Gunner Wilkes lost 7-9 to Ashton Cannon, and Lillian Jones fell 0-8 to Baruni Jakkula in girls singles.
In No. 1 boys doubles, Brayden Flowers and Ben Rosamond lost 3-8 to Landon Hood and Micah Skinner, and in No. 2 boys doubles, TJ Small and Jeffrey Butts lost 1-8 to Samuel Shelton and Camdyn Watson. In No. 1 girls doubles, Marlee Wilkes and Eden Leach lost 6-8 to Aliah Mays and Emma Gong.
Winona, which was scheduled to play host to French Camp Monday, visits Senatobia High School Thursday.
