Historic Carrollton oak cut for safety

Recently a long-standing natural monument to beauty and grace was removed from the Carrollton Courthouse lawn. A long-standing fixture, an oak tree, was approved for cutting, removal, and stump grinding at the June 3 Carroll County Board of Supervisors meeting due to the potential hazard it posed.

Duck Hill's 42nd Annual Bogue Creek Festival set for Saturday

This Saturday, Sept. 7, Duck Hill will host its 42nd Annual Bogue Creek Festival. The festival started in 1982 by a local Duck Hill resident club known as the Busy Bees. The festival was named after the Little Bogue Creek, a stretch of stream which runs perpendicular to Highway 404 in the Duck Hill/ Montgomery County area.

Supervisors support Pilgrimage Festival

14 fires in 6 days

Since last Thursday, Aug. 22, Carroll County Volunteer Firefighters have responded to 14 fires as of Tuesday, Aug. 27, according to Fire Chief Jake Hurst. Five of Eight Carroll County departments were involved in the first response to these fires, requesting assistance from the Mississippi Forestry Commission for each one.
