Carroll County Deputies recently recovered a stolen tractor valued at $60,000. The tractor was stolen in Carroll County and was eventually tracked down near Yazoo County. Carroll Deputies opened the investigation and worked tirelessly to locate the stolen tractor. By using information from informants in drug arrests; drones; and a lot of searching in and through several counties; the tractor was finally located behind a gate on private property. The owner, who paid $20,000 for the piece of equipment, is also facing potential charges.
After finding the tractor, the case was turned over by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office to the Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau. Agents with MALTB have worked hard to uncover a multi-county theft ring which will ultimately lead to multiple arrests.
Sheriff Walker said, “I would like to commend our deputies for their diligent work in this case. With dogged determination, they pursued each and every lead until this equipment was found. I look forward to seeing the forthcoming arrests once MALTB Agents complete their investigation. This is another case of great cooperation and communication between law enforcement agencies to resolve crime. We are all victims when people buy what are obviously stolen items from thieves. It hits us all in our wallets with increased insurance rates and other costs – not to mention the man hours that are tied up while we investigate. If someone tries to sell you something for basically pennies on the dollar, don’t just assume it's your lucky day. It could implicate you in their crime and cost you far more than you ‘save’.”
