The Winona Christian Stars avenged a loss to rival Carroll Academy on Friday with a 27-21 win over the Rebels.
The Lady Rebels of CA finished off a season sweep of the Lady Stars with a 50-15 win.
WCS returned to action this week with three home contests. Winona Christian was set to host Marshall on Tuesday and Oak Hill on Friday in division contests. WCS will then finish off the week by hosting Kirk on Saturday in a non-division contest.
Carroll has just two games this week as they were set to travel to Oak Hill on Tuesday in a division contest and host Kirk on Friday in a non-division contest.
In the girls game, the Lady Rebels broke open a close game in the second period as they cruised to a 35-point win over the Lady Stars on Friday night.
Carroll led 8-7 at the end of the first period but then outscored the Lady Stars 17-3 in the second period for a 25-10 lead at the half. Carroll continued to pull away as they outscored Winona 12-3 in the third and 13-2 in the fourth for the final margin of victory.
Caroline Mumme had a huge game as she pumped in a game-high 18 points while getting 10 steals and pulling down eight rebounds. Belle Sanders had nine points while Gracie Turner had eight points, seven rebounds and three steals. Sand Rhea Tackett led the Lady Rebels with eight rebounds.
In the boys game, Carroll led for much of the game before Winona Christian pulled away to take a six-point division win on Friday night.
Carroll jumped out to a big lead early, outscoring Winona Christian 14-4 in the first period. In a slow second period, Winona outscored Carroll 3-2 as the Rebels took a 16-7 lead into the half.
Winona Christian tightened the game up in the third period as they outscored Carroll 11-3 to pull within 19-18 heading into the fourth period.
The Stars then pulled ahead in the fourth period as they outscored the Rebels 9-2 to take the win.
Austin Huggins led Winona Christian with 12 points while Reed Roberts had eight points.
Michael O’Brien led Carroll with 15 points while Logan Taylor and Morgan Mims each had three points apiece.
