The Winona High School baseball team improved to 3-0 in Region 3-3A play with a 19-9 win over Humphreys County last Thursday
The Tigers (7-6 overall) trailed 2-1 after one inning but scored five runs in the second, four in the fourth, two in the fifth and seven in the sixth. Humphreys scored two in the first, three in the fourth and four in the fifth.
Conner Helms (4-1) got the win on the mound as he went three-plus innings, allowing five runs on four hits, walking four and fanning four. Kam’ron Robinson worked one-plus inning, giving up three runs (all earned) on three walks. He struck out one. Gavin Vance finished the game as he pitched two innings, allowing one run on two hits, walking three and striking out three.
Helms drove in six runs with a three-run homer, single and double. He also scored two runs. K. Robinson had three singles and scored twice, and Vance had two singles, three RBIs and scored a pair of runs. Chase Richardson had three singles and scored four runs.
Tomarion Brown had a single and double, two RBIs and scored two runs. Danarius Robinson had two singles and scored two runs, and Ja’mes Bays had a single and scored three times. Miles Bailey had a double, RBI and scored a run.
Winona dropped a 15-0 decision to Kirk Academy on March 20. Wyatt Boone (0-2) suffered the loss as he only got one out in the first, yielding six runs (all earned) on three hits, walking one and striking out one. Vance worked 1 2/3 innings, giving up eight runs on four hits, walking three and striking out two. D. Robinson went one inning, giving up one run, walking three and fanning three.
Winona, which played at Yazoo County Tuesday, entertains Ruleville Friday.

The Lady Tigers had a successful week as they went 3-0 to up their overall mark to 7-10 with wins over J.Z. George and Ruleville twice.
Last Thursday, Winona beat Ruleville 22-1 as Madison Henderson and Olivia Swindle combined on a no-hitter. Henderson went 1 2/3 innings, allowing one run, walking one and fanning two. Swindle went 1 1/3 innings, striking out three.
Swindle had a single, drove in three runs and scored once, and Emily Casiday had a single, RBI and scored three runs. Mary Beth Brannon had a single, scored three times and drove in a pair, and Dorothy Martin-Derrick had a single and scored three runs. Keagan Hall scored three runs, and Hailey Burton, Makinley Russell and Alisha Taylor scored two runs each.
On March 21, the Lady Tigers beat Ruleville 16-1 as Henderson got the win in the circle. She did not allow a hit, gave up one earned run, walking two and fanning six.
Martin had two singles and scored three times, and Swindle had a double, three RBIs and scored a run. Brannon had a single, RBI and scored twice, and Hall had an RBI single and scored three runs. Casiday had one RBI and scored two runs, and Taylor had two RBIs. Russell scored a pair of runs.
In a game from March 20 against J.Z. George, Winona defeated the Lady Jags 16-5 by plating four runs each in the first and second innings, one in the third, two in the fourth and five in the fifth.
Swindle earned the win in the circle as she went all five innings, allowing five runs on three hits, walking four and striking out eight. At the plate, Swindle had two singles, three RBIs and scored a run.
Casiday had two singles, two RBIs and scored three times, and Brannon had a triple, three RBIs and scored once. Hall had a single, RBI and scored a pair of runs, and Burton had a double and two RBIs. Taylor scored four runs and had an RBI single, and Derrick had an RBI and scored a run. Vincent had a single and scored once.
Winona, which played at Riverside Monday, hosts Yazoo County Thursday.
