The Carroll Academy Rebels won their fifth straight game last week as they swept Greenville St. Joseph in district baseball action.
The Rebels won 10-3 on Tuesday at Greenville and then finished off the sweep by pounding the Irish 14-2 and 12-2 on Thursday.
Carroll, now 12-7 on the year, is scheduled to return to play on Monday as they host Indianola in district play. They will then play at Indianola on Tuesday in a doubleheader.
Carroll 10, St. Joseph 3
A seven-run fourth inning proved to be the difference as the Rebels took a district win on Tuesday.
Carroll scored two in the top of the first and led 2-1 early. After two scoreless innings, Carroll scored seven in the fourth while St. Joe answered with two in the bottom of the frame. Carroll added one in the sixth to take the win.
Carroll had 12 hits in the contest as Ryan Logan was 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Brennan Blaylock was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while Lofton Holly was also 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Maddox Carpenter was 2-for-3 and scored twice while Brandon McKenzie was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.
Logan pitched the first four innings and gave up three runs on two hits and six walks while striking out eight. McKenzie pitched the last three innings and walked two while striking out two.
Carroll 14, St. Joseph 2
The Rebels used another big inning as they took a four-inning, run-rule win over the Irish in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday.
St. Joe scored one in the top of the first and Carroll answered with two in the bottom of the frame. St. Joe added a single run in the top of the second to tie the game at 2-2. But Carroll answered with three in the second and nine in the third to take the win.
Carroll had 11 hits in the contest as Lofton Holly was 2-for-2 with a home run and five RBIs. Brennan Blaylock was 2-for-2 with a triple and three runs scored while Ethan Mims was 2-for-2 with a double. Jake Truitt doubled and drove in two while Ryan Logan singled and drove in two. Brandon McKenzie also scored twice.
Mims started on the mound and gave up two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out eight.
Carroll 12, St. Joseph 2
The Rebels had a pair of four-run innings as they took a five-inning, run-rule win over the Irish to sweep the series.
Carroll scored four in the first and second and finished with two in the fourth and fifth.
Carroll had 14 hits in the contest as Brennan Blaylock was 4-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored. Maddox Carpenter was 2-for-3 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBIs while Reid Blaylock was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Lofton Holly was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored while Ryan Logan was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Jake Truitt and Reed Thomas also doubled for Carroll.
Holly started son the mound and was solid, giving up one unearned run on two hits and one walk while striking out five. Reid Blaylock pitched the last inning and gave up one run on one hit.
