After finally getting his entire team from the football field, the Carroll Academy Rebels are in full basketball mode now.
The Rebels picked up three wins last week, including a pair of district wins in the process. After a 46-29 win our Deer Creek, the Rebels beat Winona Christian 6-50 and Central Holmes 49-43.
Carroll is now off for the next two-plus weeks and will return to play on Dec. 28 and 29 as they play in the Manchester Academy Christmas Tournament.
Carroll boys 46, Deer Creek 29
The Rebels used a steady offense as they took a 17-point win over Deer Creek on Monday.
The Rebels led 12-6 at the end of the first period and outscored Deer Creek 9-8 in the second to lead 21-14 at the half. The Rebels continued to extend its lead in the second half as they outscored Deer Creek 10-7 in the third and 17-8 in fourth.
Mathis Beck led Carroll in scoring with 14 points and nine rebounds while Hunter Grantham had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Luke O’Bryant also chipped in nine points for Carroll.
Carroll girls 40, Deer Creek 23
The Lady Rebels grabbed a 17-point win over Deer Creek in their only win of the week.
Dru Chamblee led Carroll with 14 points while Mary Lakyn Boutwell had 13 points. Mari Brynn Reeves also had nine points.
Carroll boys 49, Central Holmes 43
The Rebels started quick and held on to take a six-point win over the Trojans on Friday.
The Rebels jumped out to a 17-9 lead in the first period and each team scored 10 points in the second as Carroll led 27-19 at the half. The Rebels maintained their eight-point lead in the third period as each team scored 13 points as Carroll led 40-32 going into the fourth. Central Holmes outscored Carroll 11-9 in the fourth for the final margin.
Noah Beck led the Rebels in scoring with 19 points and four steals. Hunter Grantham had another double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Bryce Collier also had a solid game with eight points and 14 rebounds.
Central Holmes girls 38, Carroll 26
The Lady Trojans got out to a quick start and outscored the Lady Rebels in every period as they took a 12-point win.
Central Holmes jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the first period and led 24-15 at the half. The Lady Trojans continued to extend their lead as they outscored the Lady Rebels 8-6 in the third period and 6-5 in the fourth.
Bella Carter and Mari Brynn Reeves each had seven points apiece.
Carroll boys 60, Winona Christian 50
The Rebels used a big third period to take a 10-point win over the rival Stars on Tuesday.
Winona jumped out to a 14-10 lead in the first period before Carroll bounced back in the second and outscored the Stars 13-7 to lead 23-21 at the half. The Rebels then took control of the game in the third as they outscored the Stars 22-12 to lead 45-33 going into the fourth.
Hunter Grantham had 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead Carroll while Bryce Collier had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Mathis Beck also chipped in 13 points.
Winona Christian girls 53, Carroll 24
The Lady Stars used big advantages in the second and third periods and cruised to a 29-point point win over the Lady Rebels.
In a low-scoring first period, Carroll led 7-3 at the end of the first. But the Lady Stars used a stingy defense and outscored the Lady Rebels 19-1 to take a 22-8 lead at the half. Winona continued to extend its lead in the third period as they outscored Carroll 24-9 to lead 46-17 going to the fourth period.
Bella Carter led Carroll with eight points.
