The Carroll Academy Rebels had a tough week on the baseball diamond with three losses.
Carroll opened with a 5-1 loss to North Delta on Monday and then fell 14-10 to Washington on Tuesday. They finished the week with a 16-3 loss to Leake Academy.
Carroll will return to play this week as they host Deer Creek on Tuesday and host North Delta on Thursday. They will finish the week by host Benton on Friday.
North Delta 5, Carroll 1
The Green Wave broke open a close game in the sixth inning and took a four-run win on Monday.
North Delta scored one in the second while Carroll answered with one in the third. North Delta went back ahead with one in the fourth and finished with three in the sixth.
Carroll had five hits as Lofton Holly was 2-for-3 with a double. Reid Blaylock and Reed Thomas each singled while Jake Truitt singled and scored.
Ryan Logan started on the mound and pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out six. Reid Blaylock pitched the last 2/3 of an inning.
Washington 14, Carroll 10
The Generals took advantage of 12 walks and scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the win with a walk-off grand slam.
Carroll scored four in the first and three in the second while Washington scored three in the first and five in the second to lead 8-7. After two scoreless innings, Washington scored one in the fifth while Carroll answered with two in the sixth and one in the seventh to go ahead 10-9. But Washington tied the score and then hit the go-ahead grand slam to take the win.
Carroll actually outhit Washington 8-5 in the contest. Maddox Carpenter was 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs. Reid Blaylock was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ryan Logan had two RBIs while Ethan Mims scored two runs. Lofton Holly doubled and scored two runs awhile Jake Truitt also had double.
Ethan Mims, Reid Blaylock, Brennan Blaylock and Austin Mims all pitched, giving up 14 runs on five hits and 12 walks.
Leake 16, Carroll 3
Leake used a steady supply of offense to take a six-inning, run-rule win on Friday.
Leake scored four in the first and one in the second while Carroll scored one in the first and two in the second to trail 5-3. But Leake scored three in the third and fifth with one in the third and four in the sixth.
Leake outhit Carroll 15-3 in the contest. Brennan Blaylock had a 2-run home run while Maddox Carpenter and Ryan Logan each had singles.
Brandon McKenzie started on the mound and pitched five full innings, giving up 14 runs on 12 hits and six walks while striking out three. Reed Thomas pitched the final inning and gave up two runs on three hits.
