The J.Z. George archery team, which is in its second year of existence, outshot visiting Pillow Academy 2,765 to 2,316 at a recent shoot on Feb. 23 at the J.Z. George gymnasium.
The Jaguars are coached by Jeff Fulgham, Scott McCrory, and Joe Nokes. This is their second shoot of the season. They defeated Neshoba Central 2,731-2,681 on Feb. 1.
In the recent competition against Pillow, senior Wil’Tavious Williams had a 286-point total to lead the top 12 scorers for J.Z. George. Sophomore Colten Brasher was next in line with a 250 total, while senior Austyn Chenault shot a 245.
Seniors Makayla Miller and Jacob Johnson both had a 236 total, while eighth-grader Brayden Counts was sixth for the Jaguars with a 234 total. Senior Ian Mills was seventh with a 232, and ninth-grader Daniel Miller was eighth with a 221. Rounding out the top 12 were senior Hunter Fisk with a 216, junior Rana Al-Rabahi with a 215, junior MacKenzie Mims with a 206, and junior Kelsey Rowe with a 188.
Pillow’s top 12 was led by Luke Hyde with a 236. Story Jackson and Hartley Kittle shot 205 and 204, respectively, and Emma Hodges had a 202. Graham Howard shot a 201, and Carter Nunley had a 193. Clayton Beckwith was next with a 192, and Elliot Vance had a 187. Samuel Pittman shot a 183, and Khyra Ware and Sarah Rylie Hardon had a 172 each. Owen Hodges shot a 169.
J.Z. George had a competition against Pillow and Nanih Waiya Monday afternoon in North Carrollton.
