The J.Z. George boys and girls track teams competed in the Division 4-2A meet last Friday in Clarksdale.
The Jaguars placed third overall with 59 points. Leflore County was first with 141 points, and O’Bannon second with 82 points. Leland was fourth with 39 points, and Riverside fifth with 17 points.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Jags came in fifth with 27 points. Leflore grabbed first with 179 points, and Riverside was second with 59 points. O’Bannon got third with 57 points, and Leland was fourth with 30 points.
The top four in each event advanced to the Region 2-2A meet, which was held Tuesday at Winona High School.

J.Z. George baseball
The Jaguars only played one game last week as they dropped a 21-17 decision at Region 2-2A foe Leflore County last Tuesday night in Itta Bena.
J.Z. George (1-8, 0-6) held a 13-4 lead after the third inning but gave up 10 runs in the fourth, five in the fifth and two in the sixth to the Tigers. The Jaguars tallied three runs each in the first and second, seven in the third, two in the fourth and a run each in the fifth and sixth innings.
Dylan Nobles (1-6) took the loss on the mound.
The Jaguars played a doubleheader against Charleston High School on Monday. Wednesday, they played host to Leflore County.
