Carroll Academy and Winona Christian were both well represented in the Class 3A All-MAIS team.
Carroll Academy placed seven players on the team, highlighted by Cooper Beck, who was named the Class 3A Defensive Player of Year.
Beck continues to pile up the hardware after leading the Rebels to the Class 3A state championship game. Beck was recently named the Greenwood Commonwealth Player of the Yer and played in the MAIS Class 1A-2A-3A All-star football game. Beck led the Rebels with 82 tackles and had four sacks on the year while also starting on the offensive line.
Beck is joined on the defense by his twin brothers, Mathis and Noah Beck. Mathis Beck had 75 tackles and one interception for the Rebels and also rushed for 714 yards and nine TDs. Noah Beck led the Carroll defense with 11 interceptions, one of the top totals in the state, public or private school.
Also named to the defensive side was Brennan Blaylock as a punter. Blaylock rushed for 451 yards and had nine TDs while throwing for 818 yards and 10 TDS.
On offense, Hunter Brackin was selected to the team after leading the Rebels in rushing with 903 yards and 12 TDs. Brackin also played in the MAIS Class 1A-2A-3A All-star football game.
Finishing out the squad for Carroll was Hunter Brower on the offensive line and Braxton York. Brower and York was a standout on both sides of the football and also played in the Class 1A-2A-3A All-Star football games.
Winona Christian
Five Winona Christian players were named to the Class 3A All-MAIS team.
Leading the way for the Stars is running back Blake Cooper who rushed for 1,616 yards on 156 carries with 19 TDs. Cooper also played in the Class 1A-2A-3A All-star football game and was named the offensive MVP for his team.
Senior Hayden Self was named as a linebacker to the team after recording 125 tackles after making the team as a junior after recording 119 tackles last year. Self also played in the Class 1A-2A-3A All-star football game. Also named to the team on defense was Collin Mullin, who had 57 tackles and also played in the Class 1A-2A-3A All-star football game.
On offense, senior Dalton Wiggins is another repeat member of the team after finishing his career with more than 3,000 all-purpose yards. This past season, Wiggins had 56 catches for 1,025 yards and 11 TDs and rushed for 378 yards on 32 carries. Wiggins also played in the MAIS All-star football game.
Making the way for Wiggins and Cooper is offensive lineman Reece Oliver, who was a three-year starter for the Stars and graded out 79 percent on the offensive line. Oliver also had 60 tackles on the defensive line and was named to the MAIS Class 1A-2A-3A All-star football game.
