Rebels await playoff fate after loss

The Carroll Academy football team finds itself in a holding pattern as it waits to find out its playoff fate after games are played this week.
The Rebels finished the regular season last week with a 48-13 loss to Greenville St. Joe in a District 2-2A showdown at Gordon Field in North Carrollton.

Late field goal lifts Tigers past Chargers

Ben Rosamond kicked a 30-yard field goal with about eight minutes to play in the fourth quarter and the Winona High School defense held off a Choctaw County High School rally to post a 24-21 Region 4-3A win over the Chargers last Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

Dodgers-Blue Jays tied 1-1 in World Series

The 121st edition of the World Series is shaping up to be a classic as the L.A. Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays are even at one game each in the best of seven series. The teams will play Monday-Wednesday of this week in L.A. If needed, the sixth or seventh games will be back in Toronto.
