JZG football shows progress despite region loss

Rebels come up short against North Delta

Carroll Academy’s football season went from bad to worse on Friday night.

The Rebels had just 98 yards of offense while North Delta used a rugged rushing attack to take a 35-6 win over Carroll on Friday night.

The Rebels fall to 1-7 on the season and will host Winona Christian on Friday to end out the regular season.

Stars fall short 14-13

In a season where the Stars have run the clock on seven of their opponents, they got a close game on Friday night.

The Stars scored late in the fourth after an epic 93-yard drive but then failed on the two-point conversion as Marshall Academy held on to take a 14-13 win in District 1-3A action.

Tigers suffer last-minute loss to Humphreys County

Winona High School’s football team let victory slip through its fingers as the Tigers dropped a 30-27 decision to Humphreys County last Friday night in Belzoni.

The defeat sinks Winona to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in Region 3-3A with two more league games to play.
