Tigers secure 3A playoff spot

The Winona High School baseball team wrapped up Region 3-3A play last week with a forfeit win Friday over Ruleville, which gave the Tigers a 4-4 district record and the third seed heading into the MHSAA State 3A playoffs.

JZG boys win Region 4-2A track title

The J.Z. George boys track team captured first-place honors at the Region 4-2A meet held last Thursday at Winona High School.

The Jaguars claimed the region title with 140 team points. Philadelphia was second with 82 points, and Union third with 47 points. Eupora came in fourth with 33 points, and Sebastopol fifth with 14 points.

Stars sweep Rebels to close regular season

Winona Christian finished out the regular season with a three-game sweep of rival Carroll Academy.

Winona took game 1 of the series 13-6 on Tuesday and followed with a 7-6 walk-off win on Thursday. They finished off the series with a 16-13 win on Friday.
