Jags preparing for HC match-up

J.Z. George head Coach Rusty Smith said his team needed to move on from last week's loss to rival Winona High School as Central Holmes Christian School comes to town.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday in North Carrollton at Farris Jenkins Field. The game is serving as the Jaguars' homecoming.

Tigers runners second in meet

The Winona boys cross country team finished second in a meet at French Camp with a team score of 70. St. Aloysius won the meet with a score of 67.
Winona also participated in the girls meet, but with only four runners was not able to compete for the team title.

Tigers take win in season opener

The first drive of the football season for the Winona Tigers looked as bad as a coach could imagine.
And after falling behind 7-0 early to Class 4A Kosciusko, the Tigers settled down and used a four-touchdown effort from Deriaun Townsend to take a 49-39 win over the Whippets on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

WCS routes Central Holmes, 39-8

Winona Christian football coach Junior Graham said his offense is still trying to find its identity.
This past week against Central Holmes, the Stars looked like a big-play offense.
The Stars used five touchdown plays of at least 39 yards as they beat rival Central Holmes 39-8 on Friday night.
