Tigers kick off season strong with 2-1 start

The Winona Tigers opened the baseball season last week with three games, winning two of those contests.
The Tigers opened with a 21-18 win over French Camp on Tuesday. On Thursday, Winona lost 16-1 to Water Valley and then bounced back to beat Calhoun Academy 9-8.

Jaguars fall to Coahoma in playoff game

J.Z. George’s run in the playoffs came to a halt on Tuesday night as Coahoma County beat the Jaguars 68-28 in a first-round game in the MHSAA Class 2A State Tournament.
The contest was played in Clarksdale.

Rebels finish season 16-4

Apparently last week’s severe winter weather had a deeper impact than Carroll Academy boys basketball Coach Tommy Acy could foresee.
After a week off after rolling through the Class AAA North State Tournament, the Rebels went cold in the opening round of the Class AAA State Tournament, falling 66-39 to Riverside on Tuesday at Oak Hill.
