NORTH CARROLLTON -- Barbara Sheppard will be sworn in soon as the newest member of the board of aldermen.
Sheppard, an active volunteer in the community and at North Carrollton Baptist Church, was the lone qualifier for the seat on the North Carrollton Board of Aldermen, a seat vacated when Ken Strachan was elected mayor a few weeks ago.
The deadline for qualifying was yesterday by 5 p.m.
“We look forward to Mrs. Sheppard serving on the board of aldermen as we work together to make North Carrollton the best it can be,” said Strachan.
Strachan said a date for Sheppard to take the oath of office has not yet been set, but he said she would be seated by the November 6 meeting of the board.
