The Carroll Academy boys picked up big district wins this past week but it wasn’t easy.
The Rebels beat Central Holmes 44-34 on Tuesday and then took a 52-47 win over Indianola on Friday.
The Lady Rebels split a pair of games as they fell 47-44 to Central Holmes and then beat Indianola 36-34 on Friday to finish out the week.
Carroll will hit the road this week with a pair of district games as they travel to Greenville St. Joseph on Tuesday and to Indianola on Friday.
Carroll boys 44, Central Holmes 34
The Rebels overcame a slow start and pulled away in the second half to take a 10-point win over the Trojans.
Central Holmes outscored Carroll 13-8 in the first period but the Rebels took the second period 11-8 to cut the lead to 21-19 at the half. Carroll then outscored Central Holmes 12-7 in the third to take a 31-27 lead into the fourth. Carroll then outscored Central Holmes 13-6 in the fourth to take the win.
Brennan Blaylock led Carroll with 16 points while Cohen Blaylock had seven points.
Central Holmes girls 47, Carroll 44
The Lady Trojans pulled ahead in the two middle periods and took a three-point win over the Lady Rebels.
Carroll led 10-7 at the end of the first but Central Holmes outscored the Lady Rebels 15-10 in the se and to take a 22-20 lead at the half. Central Holmes outscored Carroll 13-10 in the third and led 35-30 going to the fourth. Carroll took the fourth period 14-12 for the final margin.
Meri Brynn Reeves had a big game with 22 points to lead Carroll while Carlie Hoover added 12 points. Anna Laken Taylor also had six points.
Carroll boys 52, Indianola 47
The Rebels built a double-digit lead in the first half and held on to take a five-point win over the Colonels.
Carroll outscored Indianola 11-6 in the first and 19-14 in the second to lead 30-20 at the half. Each team scored 11 points in the third period and Indianola outscored Carroll 16-11 in the fourth for the final margin.
Noah Beck led Carroll with 28 points while Mathis Beck had eight points. Brennan Blaylock and Cohen Blaylock each had six points apiece.
Carroll girls 36, Indianola 34
The Lady Rebels used a big first period and held on to take a two-point win over the Lady Colonels last week.
Carroll jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first period and outscored Indianola 11-10 in the second to lead 21-12 at the half. Indianola made it interesting by outscoring Carroll 11-4 in the third to cut the lead to 25-23 going to the fourth. Each team scored 11 in the fourth for the final margin.
Anna Laken Taylor led Carroll with 12 points, all on 3-pointers. Carlie Hoover had eight points while Bella Carter chipped in six points.
