The Carroll Academy baseball team flexed its muscle in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
The Rebels took a pair of run-rule wins last week, beating Greenville Christian 15-5 on Tuesday and 15-0 on Friday.
Carroll improves 8-16 on the season and will advance to second-round action this week against North Delta, who got a first-round bye. Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday at Carroll while Games 2 and 3 would be at North Delta, weather permitting.
Carroll 15, Greenville Christian 0
The Rebels needed just three innings to take a run-rule win over the Saints on Friday to take the series.
Carroll scored three in the first and 12 in the second to take the shutout win.
Carroll had just four hits in the contest but drew 10 walks. C.J. McDonald doubled and scored two runs while Parker Daves, Reece Jordan and Hayes White each had singles. Jake Truitt, Hayden Hopkins, Reed Thomas, Reid Blaylock and Cole Beckwith each scored two runs apiece for the Rebels.
White pitched three no-hit innings and didn’t walk a batter while striking out eight.
Carroll 15, Greenville Christian 5
The Rebels struck early and finished off the Saints in six innings on Tuesday in first-round playoff action.
Carroll scored five the first, four in the third and sixth while adding with two in the fifth.
Carroll had eight hits and took advantage of 12 walks and six errors in the contest. C.J. McDonald as 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs while Parker Daves was 2-for-3. Jake Truitt singled and scored four runs while Reid Blaylock singled and had four RBIs. Hayden Hopkins walked four times and scored three runs while Hayes White had two RBIs.
Blaylock started on the mound and pitched all six innings and gave up five runs with just one earned on four hits while striking out eight.
