Sue Marie Hightower passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023. She was born on Aug. 14, 1958, in Memphis, Tenn. to Chester Dalton Pruett and Willie Lee Stacy. She was 65 years young.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Pruett and Willie Pruett; her dear husband, Clayton Hightower; two brothers, Larry and Johnny Pruett; and sister, Virginia Devine.
The broken-hearted family Sue leaves behind are daughters, Cathy Cotts (Ray) of Yorkville, Ill. and Tina Crumley (Ricky) of Winona, Miss.; three granddaughters, Kathryn Neal, Lillie Hightower and Sadie Crumley; two sisters, Jimmie Tate and Donna Presnell; one brother, Bill Pruett and many nieces and nephews.
In her younger days, Sue co-owned and operated 51 Service Center. She was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church. Sue loved animals and could sew like no one's business. She was known to spend her days watching movies, baking, and loving on her pup. She loved her granddaughters with all she had in her and would have done anything for them. She was soon going to be a great grandmother and she surely would have loved him/her beyond measure as well. She was a loving; hardworking child of God and she taught her family to be the same. Her advice, laugh, cooking and her presence will be missed past our understanding, but we find comfort in knowing she is back with her husband, her soulmate.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hightower Family cemetery in Carroll County. Rev. David Westmoreland will officiate the service.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 15, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.
Oliver Funeral Home of Winona is in charge of arrangements. An online guestbook may be signed at www.ofhwinona.com.
