Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Lois Felts Curtis, of Winona, was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, at Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. The Rev. Brian Gordon officiated the service. Pallbearers were John Mark Curtis, Christopher Curtis, Bradley Curtis, Kent Blaine, Stan Rodgers and Dell Simpson.
Visitation was Friday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. until service time at Moore Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mamie Lois Felts Curtis, 99, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at Vaiden Community Living Center. She was born in McCarley, Miss. to Charles Conrad and Carrie Durham Felts on Sept. 5, 1924. She graduated from J.Z. George High School and attended MSCW. In her early adult years, Mrs. Curtis worked at the Carroll County Extension Office until the birth of her first child.
She was a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School to five-year-olds for many years and was a member of the Mildren Fondren Sunday School Class, as well as the Monday Circle. She also sang in the choir and played the piano in the evening service when needed.
For most of her life, Mrs. Curtis was a homemaker who loved to do needlework and who was well known for her cooking abilities.
Mrs. Curtis is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Curtis Bowles (Jack) of Winona; son, Clifton Curtis (Cathy) of Starkville; and four grandchildren, Anna Bowles, John Mark Curtis, Christopher Curtis, and Bradley Curtis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Holmes Curtis; and siblings, Walter Hill Felts, Marion Luther Felts, and Edward Felts.
