Grace E. Voorhees, 91, of Carthage, former long time resident of Vaiden, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2020, at her daughter's home in Carthage.
A private memorial service for Mrs. Voorhees will be held at a later date.
She was born in Chicago, Ill., on October 8, 1928, to James Z. and Alma Grace Van Winkle. She graduated from LSU with a master's degree and was a member of Shiloh Independent Methodist Church in Carmack. She served as a Girl Scout leader, alderwoman for the Town of Vaiden for 12 years, and was a member of numerous clubs, organizations, and other groups.
Mrs. Voorhees is survived by her daughter, Kathryn V. Seymer (Phillip) of Carthage; sons, James O. Voorhees (Carol) of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Walt R. Stovall (Sandi) of Apple Valley, Ca.; three grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry L. Voorhees; daughter, Susan V. Stovall; and grandson, James Cody Voorhees.
