Carl Wade McGlothin, 90, of French Camp, went to be with The Lord on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Wade was loved by his family, friends, and community. He loved his family fiercely and served the Lord diligently. He was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church in French Camp, where he taught the Men's Sunday school for many years.
His biggest concern in life was the salvation of his family and friends, and anyone he came in contact with. He faithfully checked on the sick and homebound and was always full of encouragement and wisdom. The portion of scripture that he clung to was Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." His walk with the Lord impacted many and was evident to all. His life was the perfect example of how one man could affect the lives of so many through God's grace and endless mercy.
Wade loved the Lord with all of his heart and was always quick to tell others of the amazing love, grace, and longsuffering of his Lord and Savior. Wade served in the Navy from 1953-56 (in the Korean War). He was a rural mail carrier for the French Camp community for more than 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie Monroe and Laura Whitsitt McGlothin; brother, James Harold "Bubba" McGlothin; sister-in-law, Mary Katherine McGlothin; and grandson, Brandon Coty West.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lovie Beryl McGlothin of French Camp; daughter, Teresa Dawn Williams (Don) of French Camp; sons, Wade Lee McGlothin (Renee) of French Camp, Carl Mark McGlothin (Cindy) of French Camp, and Robert Dane McGlothin (Pam) of French Camp; bonus children, Minna Leonard of French Camp, Kevin Gilmore of New York, and Joe Grant of Kilmichael; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at Bethsaida Baptist Church in French Camp, with the Rev. Keith Sanders and the Rev. Alex Lawson officiating. Visitation was from noon until service time at the church. Burial followed in Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery.
