Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Sue Thompson Ferguson of Winona were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, at North Winona Baptist Church, with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. The Rev. David Haggerty, the Rev. Terry Corley and the Rev. Tracy Putnam officiated the service.
Pallbearers were Murray Mills, Dalton Ferguson, Patrick Pitt, Tommy Weeks, Trent Herbert and Coty Bennett. Honorary pallbearers were Caleb Fields, Marshall Bennett, Larry Bennett, Lawrence Bennett, Don Bennett, Collin Bennett, Jeff Marter, Jerry Collins, Harmon Ferguson, Paul Ferguson and Michael Ferguson.
Visitation was Friday, Feb. 10, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Betty Sue Thompson Ferguson, 84, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023. She was born in Montgomery County to Henry and Lillie Bellinger Thompson on July 25, 1938. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Winona and North Winona Baptist Church, where she served in many church missions, but most instrumentally with the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox ministry. Before retiring, she was the executive director of the Winona Housing Authority.
Mrs. Ferguson is survived by her daughters, Judy Collins (Larry) of Winona, and Jan Fields (Kenneth) of Holcomb; son, Andy Ferguson (Belinda) of Winona; 11 grandchildren, Mallory Weeks (Tommy), Felisha Pitt (Patrick), Murray Mills, Marcey Herbert (Trent), Jeremy Collins (Tabatha), Caleb Fields, Shelby Ferguson, Laura Fields, Dalton Ferguson, Daniel Collins, and Jennifer Vance; and a host of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Paul "Billy" Ferguson Jr.; sisters, Louise Bennett and Cornelia Thompson; three brothers, Marshall Thompson, Bill Thompson, and George Thompson.
