Funeral services for Arnold Kenneth “Ken” Morrison of Carrollton were held at noon on Tuesday, May 9 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Carrollton, with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery in Carrollton. The Rev. Bennie Watson officiated the services. Pallbearers were Jimmy Downs, Jared Simmons, Tommy Downs, Kendall Downs, John Ables and Donny Stephenson.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 9 from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
Arnold Kenneth “Ken” Morrison, 84, passed away at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson on Friday, May 5, 2023. He was born in Gore Springs, Miss. on Feb. 16, 1939. After retiring from Entergy Corporation in the 1990s, he worked for a time as an electrical contractor on the coast. Up until last year even, he was working with his portable sawmill. He loved using his talents in woodworking, making furniture and different crafts, which he would give away to family and friends. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Carrollton.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Downs Morrison of Carrollton; son, Ken Morrison Jr. of Carrollton; granddaughter, Vanessa Simmons of Petersburg, Ind.; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Lexie Oswalt of Petersburg, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Donna Stephenson of Carrollton and Sandy Dumas of Brandon; and three stepsons, Wesley Brower of Carrollton, Mark Brower of Tillatoba, and Joey Brower of Hernando. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Waite Morrison; son, Charles Edward Morrison; sister, Travie May Ables; and four brothers, J. T. Morrison, James Frank Morrison, Albert C. Morrison, and Edward Oliver Morrison.
