Funeral services for Alex Bruce Beckwith of Carrollton were held on Saturday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Carrollton, with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery in Carrollton. The Rev. Bennie Watson officiated the services. Pallbearers were Bruce Wayne "B.W." Beckwith Jr., Ben Beckwith, David Campbell, George Beckwith, Ronnie Moore, Pate Shackelford and Mike Attkisson.
Alex Bruce Beckwith, 81, passed away at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada on Thursday, May 18, 2023. He was born to Alex "Jack" and Cecil Hill Beckwith in Carroll County on Oct. 26, 1941. He was a retired employee of Heatcraft in Grenada. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved attending and watching his grandchildren's sporting activities. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Carrollton.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia England Beckwith of Carrollton; two sons, Bruce Wayne Beckwith (Connie) of Bentonia, Miss. and Ricky Beckwith (Sherry) of Yazoo City, Miss.; two grandchildren, Bruce Wayne "B.W." Beckwith Jr. (Kassi) and Ben Beckwith (Hailey), both of Bentonia, Miss.; step-grandchild, Greyson Winstead of Yazoo City, Miss.; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Kate Beckwith, Mary Beth Beckwith, and Boone Beckwith; sister, Patricia Beckwith Pittman of Grenada; two brothers, Jerry Beckwith (Debra Ann) of Coffeeville, Miss. and Larry Beckwith of Carrollton, Miss.; and brother-in-law, Joe Carpenter (Norma) of Counce, Tenn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Robert Beckwith.
