Richard Earl “Ricky” Henson, 72, of Weir, passed away on Feb. 21, 2024. He was born in Kilmichael on Nov. 25, 1951, to James Earl and Mattie Castle Henson.
Ricky attended school in Winona before going on to be an operator for International Paper Company and driving trucks for his uncle, Alan "Red" Castle, Parkerson Lumber, and Box Logging. He then went on to work for various pipeline companies.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, James Earl Henson and mother, Mattie Castle Henson. He is survived by his sons, Cole Henson (Kaitlyn) and Matt Henson; sister, Karla Henson Perry; aunt, Marianne Castle; grandson, Luke Henson; niece, Kayla Perry; nephew, Christopher Perry; and numerous cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Friendship Cemetery in Kilmichael. The Rev. Randy Bridges and the Rev. Rob Faulk officiated the service. Pallbearers were Hank Castle, Jim Castle, Charlie Castle, Keith Parkerson, Keith Box, Kevin Box, Randy Cummings, and Christopher Perry. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Joe Oswalt, Bobby Gene Henderson, Butch Bright, Danny Havens, and Talmadge Parker.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 1 p.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.
