Burial followed in Winona Garden of Memory. Pallbearers were Tommy Gene Blaylock, Brandon Amason, Carl Wayne Amason, Santos Cirilo, Reece Ward, and C.J. Wilson.

He was born in Grenada County on July 9, 1941, to George Leslie and Jimmie Marie Carter Lester. He was a lifelong resident of Winona and was a retired truck driver and employee of Montgomery County.
