WINONA – A local woman will face a Montgomery County Grand Jury for breaking and entering, a felony charge.
Cassandra Blackmon, 54, of Winona was arrested and charged with breaking and entering in connection with an incident that occurred at 621 Dennis Street in Winona in the early morning hours of October 15.
According to the testimony of Lt. Blake Herring at a preliminary hearing in Winona City Court Tuesday, the elderly homeowner said she was awakened at around 2 a.m. Monday morning by someone entering her home through a back door. She said the intruder entered her bedroom and tried to hide under the bed after she was discovered by the homeowner.
Herring said the homeowner identified the defendant to police, as the defendant worked as a caretaker for the homeowner.
Herring testified that the back door showed signs of forced entry.
Judge Alan D. Lancaster bound Blackmon over to the action of the grand jury and continued bond at $5,000. Public defender Lee Bailey served as defense counsel.
