The town of Vaiden will hold its annual Vaiden Heritage Festival on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Mayor Mel Hawthorne said 19 vendors had paid and 11 had called and said they were coming. He said it’ll end up being 35 vendors in all at the festival Saturday ranging from food to arts and crafts.
“The entertainment will start around 9:30 a.m.,” Hawthorne said. He said Mary Stovall will kick off entertainment, Wilton Neal will perform at 10 a.m., Eden Brent will perform at 11 a.m., Evangelist Carolyn Williams and the Spiritual Stars will perform at 12:30 and Little Willie Farmer will close out entertainment at 2 p.m.
“That’ll take us throughout the day,” Hawthorne said.
He said there will also be arts and crafts, hayrides, facepainting, a jumping castle and more.
Also, City Clerk Sonya Greenleaf said the Mayoral Health Council was recognized at the Grammy Museum in Cleveland on Friday, Oct. 4 for their work with the Delta Health Collabrative.
“We’ve been doing this for six years and we’ve been dilligent,” Greenleaf said. “I thank the board for everything they’ve done. Everything I ask of the board, they may look at me funny but they never say no.”
