Two Winona men were bound over to the action of a Montgomery County Grand Jury. Deonte Cortez Peeples was charged with burglary, and Jaquavious Forrest charged with malicious mischief in separate cases. Both men went before Judge Alan D. Lancaster on March 25 in Winona Municipal Court.
According to Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department, Peeples was charged in connection with a burglary at Crossroads Jewelry in December 2020. Peeples is being held on a $50,000 bond after being extradited from Kentucky to face charges.
Forrest, who was already out on a $3,500 bond, was charged with malicious mischief stemming from an incident that took place on Feb. 1.
In another case, Reginald Small went before Lancaster on a charge of domestic violence-simple assault. Small was found guilty of this charge. However, he was additionally charged with kidnapping, a felony, in connection with the case.
Herod declined to comment on the Small case as the investigation is still ongoing.
