The Town of Kilmichael has been awarded a $450,000 Community Development Block Grant to improve their sewer lines and pumping stations.
Mayor Bobby Howell said he was notified of the award on Wednesday and the money will be used to refurbish some of Kilmichael’s sewer lines, remove surface water from the system and improve its pumping station.
Howell said the resources will be used to determine where the surface water is getting into the system. “It’s just maintenance of our entire system,” he said. “They may have to raise manholes or put liners in the lines where they find leaks. It will make sure our system is proficient and performing as it should.”
He said the project will be a continuation of a project that began last year.
“We’re just blessed,” Howell said.
