In Montgomery County, on June 22 The Winona Times and The Winona Rotary Club will sponsor Pork and Politics Political Rally from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in downtown Winona.
Matt Bennett with the Winona Rotary Club said the Pork and Politics Political Rally would take place at the north end of Front Street near the Modern Woodmen of the World office. He said the event is open to all state and Montgomery County candidates to come and speak at the event.
“They can show up and register, and we’ll have time slots designated for them to speak,” Bennett said. He said interested candidates should contact him ahead of time.
“They’re other rallies in the county, Kilmichael has one during the fourth of July, but this one is the only one of its kind,” he said.
Bennett said the rally is similar to a tailgate. He said vendors had been invited to serve barbecue, and iced cold water will be available for free.
Bennett said the rally is a way for the Winona Rotary Club to provide the public a forum to hear more about those running for local and statewide offices.
“The rally is to serve the citizens of the Montgomery County in a fun environment, and they can hear what the candidates have to say,” Bennett said.
He said candidates are welcomed to set up their tents and tables. For more information, call Amanda Ferguson at 283-1131 or Matt Bennett at 662-392-9290.
The Montgomery County Voter’s League will have its political rally on June 29 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Montgomery County Courthouse. The rally will be an informative way for people to get to know their candidates and ask questions. It’s open to any candidate running for local or state government in Montgomery County.
Kilmichael Cares will have its political rally on the Kilmichael Square on Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. or longer if needed. There will be political speakers, live musical entertainment, and fun activities for the kids, cake and toy walk and concessions. All proceeds raised will benefit the new stage project and Christmas on the Square.
