A suspect is in the custody of the Attala County Sheriff’s Department for a string of burglaries of Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) Project Offices in several counties.
Captain Dan Herod with the Winona Police Department said on August 17, 2019, the MDOT Project Office on Industrial Park Drive in Winona was burglarized. Stolen in the burglary were several Stihl chainsaws and several weed eaters.
Herod said in a joint investigation between Winona Police Department and several other law enforcement agencies in several counties, a suspect was identified and taken into custody by the Attala County Sheriff’s Department. Herod declined to name the suspect at the present time.
“A suspect is in custody, but the investigation is ongoing due to the number of jurisdictions involved,” Herod said.
