One man is facing grand larceny charges in connection with a car stolen from Winona.
William LeDale Donahoo, 36, of Winona was arrested and charged with grand larceny (motor vehicle theft) in connection with the theft of a 2000 Toyota pickup truck stolen from in front of Winona Finance on Summit Street on January 26 at around 5:30 a.m.
According to Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator at the Winona Police Department, the owner of the vehicle reported the truck stolen. Herod said he checked surveillance video from some downtown businesses and established a timeline of the theft.
“The vehicle was entered on [the National Crime Information Center], and on Sunday [January 27] the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department located the vehicle at a residence on Highway 8 East, outside of Grenada,” Herod said. “William LeDale Donahoo was found to be in possession of the vehicle and after a join investigation between the Winona Police Department and the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department, charges were filed against William LeDale Donahoo for grand larceny (motor vehicle theft).
No bond has been set for Donahoo at this time. Herod said the Mississippi Department of Corrections currently has a hold on him.
“Winona Chief Tommy Bibbs and myself spent most of the majority of Monday afternoon and evening in Grenada working [on the case],” Herod said.
