As the first board meeting came to a close, outgoing Chancery Clerk Sugar Mullins and the Carroll County Supervisors reflected on the past four years.
“I’d like to thank each of you for coming to my reception, and I thank y’all for the resolution. It was mighty nice,” Mullins said. “I’ve enjoyed working with all of you, and I’ll still be seeing y’all. Jim is my supervisor.”
“I don’t like the sound of that,” Supervisor Jim Neill said.
Mullins then told Supervisors that the county has a newly-formed VFW and meetings are held in the Carrollton board room.
“We’re either in here or upstairs,” he said, adding the 34 member group would be sure not to leave anything in a mess in either room.
Supervisor Rickie Corley told Mullins were was no problem with them meeting in the room.
“Who’s the head honcho?” Neill asked.
“Me,” Mullins said laughing. “No, they just needed someone who would fool with it. So, I’m going to do it for a little while.”
He also told the board to be patient with Carpenter as he learns the ropes and to help him out.
“He’s going to need some help. I remember when I first started. It’s a lot to learn. I still learn stuff every day,” Mullins said.
Corley also thanked the board for their faith in him serving as president of the board.
“I appreciate y’all trust and cooperation and I don’t take it lightly,” he said.
The board reflected that it’s been a good four years. They acknowledged there have been some things that have tried to come between them but they’ve overcome the obstacles.
“I think we have a real good board here, and we’re not going to agree on everything,” Fluker said.
“And we’re not supposed to, that’s why there are five people across the board. We’re not going to agree on everything. We have done a lot of work and we have a lot of work to do,” Neill said.
“But, the future looks bright for Carroll County with the solar plant coming and all, it looks bright,” Corley added.
