WINONA – One man is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg after a Friday night drive-by shooting in Winona.
According to Sgt. Tracey Woods with the Winona Police Department, around 6:40 p.m. on Friday, June 19, an individual pulled in front of 715 Dennis Street and opened fire with a nine millimeter handgun. One man, Cody Ward, who was washing his car at the time of the shooting, was struck in the lower leg.
Ward was transported to Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona by private vehicle, where he was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.
Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator with the Winona Police Department, said the investigation is ongoing but a suspect has been identified. No arrests have been made in the case as of press time Wednesday.
