A Winona man is facing the action of a Montgomery County Grand Jury for grand larceny in connection with the theft of a truck.
William LeDale Donahoo, 36, has been arrested and charged in connection with the case. He went before Winona City Judge Alan D. Lancaster last Thursday in Winona City Court, and following a brief preliminary hearing, Lancaster said he had sufficient evidence that a crime had been committed and bound him over to the action of the grand jury.
Public defender Lee Bailey represented Donahoo at the hearing.
According to testimony by Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator with the Winona Police Department, a 2000 Toyota pickup truck was stolen from in front of Winona Finance on Summit Street in Winona on January 26 around 5:30 a.m. The vehicle had been repossessed by the company, and the person responsible for paying the loan on the vehicle is an acquaintance of Donahoo. Herod testified that Donahoo overheard from the trucks owner where it was being kept.
Herod testified that Donahoo was identified with the help of surveillance cameras in neighboring businesses.
Herod said Donahoo was found in possession of the vehicle at a residence on Highway 8 East, outside of Grenada, thanks to a joint investigation between Winona Police Department and Grenada County Sheriff’s Department.
Lancaster set bond at $100,000. The Mississippi Department of Corrections also has a hold on him in an unrelated case.
Donahoo is being held at the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden.
